A small closet or even a spare shelf in a cupboard tucked in a corner can
easily be turned into a mini wine cellar to store your growing wine collection.
Before you construct your mini wine cellar consider the position of the closet
in relation to the rest of the house or apartment.
Avoid using a cupboard located against an outside wall for your wine cellar. The
outside walls of a building can be subject to wide fluctuations in temperature
which will have a detrimental effect on your wine. Choose an internal cupboard
where your wine can be stored in a more stable atmosphere.
The hardest part of converting a closet to a wine cellar can be finding another
place to store the original contents of the closet! But be ruthless, clean out
the closet, or clear off a space on a shelf, purchase some inexpensive wine
racks from a hardware store, storage shop or online retailer and you'll have a
simple but effective mini wine cellar
More wine cellar ideas including instructions for building a full basement
wine cellar and a mini wine cellar in a closet can be found in Chris Miley's e-book
"How To Build Your Own Wine Cellar".
